It's nearly impossible to say "Tulaberry" without smiling — and that was entirely intentional. Our founder chose this name to represent creativity, harmony, sustainability, and a little mystery. It's currently a pending U.S. trademark for our quilts and fabrics business, and we're proud to be building its meaning in this space — stitch by stitch.

Fans of a certain fictional space station may recognize the name. We like to think our quilts and curated fabrics share something of that ethos — made with care, meant to endure, and worth the search.

Tulaberry quilts are designed as livable art — made to be used, loved, and allowed to age beautifully. Our Quilt Care Guide covers everything from routine care to long-term preservation, with guidance written to help your quilt become part of your story.

Pre-washing is a topic quilters feel strongly about — and we have a clear stance.

Some quilters prefer working with unlaundered fabric: the sizing applied during manufacturing adds crispness that makes cutting and piecing more precise. The tradeoff is real, though — quilting cotton shrinks on first wash, which can distort a carefully pieced design, and colorfastness isn't always guaranteed.

At Tulaberry, we always recommend pre-washing and pressing your fabrics before cutting. Any shrinkage happens before you invest your time in the finished piece. You'll also reduce fiber dust and allergens in your studio, and high-contrast colorwork won't be at risk from transient dye bleed.

This same philosophy guides every quilt we make in our studio. All fabrics used in Tulaberry quilts are pre-washed and pressed before a single cut is made — so the quilt that arrives at your door has already gone through one shrink cycle, and the colors have had a chance to set. It's one of the small but meaningful ways we build lasting quality into every piece.

One honest caveat: we haven't found a reliable method for pre-washing batting or piecing thread, so some shrinkage in the completed quilt is expected after washing. We think of this as part of the story — a well-loved quilt only gets better with time.

Finished quilt sizes vary by design. Custom dimensions are available in some cases for made-to-order commissioned work, and your final dimensions will be confirmed before your order is confirmed. Have a specific size in mind? Please reach out — we'd be glad to explore options.

Why yes, we DO offer made-to-order quilts! We accept a limited number of commissions each year. Made-to-order quilts are based on Tulaberry designs and fabrics. Learn more and express your interest.

Not at this time — our studio is fully dedicated to making Tulaberry quilts. If that changes, we'll share the news here and on our social channels.

We currently sell and ship only to U.S. addresses. Expanding beyond the U.S. is something we hope to offer in the future.

If your order is $100 or more, "free shipping" means we will pay for standard USPS shipping to U.S. addresses. For orders under $100, we ship at a flat rate of $8.50.

Standard shipping typically arrives within 2–10 business days (longer for Hawaii, Alaska, and other non-contiguous locations). We also offer expedited shipping for a fee. Be sure to review our Shipping Policy and select your preferred shipping option at checkout.

Before placing your order, please review our Returns Policy and Shipping Policy. Most of our products are final sale due to the custom nature of our business.

Once an order is placed, we are unable to alter or cancel it. Our small team gets to work on filling your order, often within minutes of you hitting the "Complete Your Order" button.
